Darwin: history talk on Colonised Sexuality and Gender

October 21, 2017 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

You are welcome to attend this talk given by Dr Dino Hodge as part of the ANNUAL HISTORY COLLOQUIUM held in Darwin. It is free, just turn up, no registration required. If you want there is morning tea from 10am which is also free.

What the talk will be about:

Did You Meet Any Malagas? (1993), was only the fourth book to be published about the lives of Australian homosexual men. In today’s terminology, the book addresses “white settler homonormativity” – a term discussed extensively in Colouring the Rainbow: Blak Queer and Trans Perspectives (2015). This presentation is a reflection on the challenges in preparing two equally ground-breaking books each dealing with the same theme but published two decades apart in quite different cultural and political environments.
